CAT - Dreams of Many IIM & Other top B-Schools Aspirants.

CAT - Dreams of Many IIM & Other top B-Schools Aspirants.

“CAT 2008 Was a more Sytematically designed and Moderately Difficult level Paper” This Year Paper contained total of 90 Questions due to increase in no. of Questions in English section.

Paper Contained Questions  Sectionwise as Follows:

English Section -40 Questions (Increase of 15 questions as compared to CAT 2007)

Quant Section -25 Questions

Apti Section – 25 questions

My Views on CAT 2008

  • Quant section was difficult as compared to previous 3 years in General but not though in Absolute sense.
  • DI section gave a Jittery moments to solve them out ,overall it will be decisive Factor in overall score of CAT 2008.DI was Bit tough to crack out as it was taking more than Usual time.
  • English Section Was “factor” to be  element of surprise this time as no. of questions were increased from 25 to 40 as compared to last year(CAT 2007). But due to more choices it was bit easy to give it a perfect thumbs-up moment for anyone who have prepared well for this section.So Eng section was easier to handle.

Cost effective wireless Sensors for Structural Health Monitoring August 31, 2010

Cost effective wireless Sensors for Structural Health Monitoring

Monitoring the performance of civil structures calls for an immediate attention. Current commercial monitoring systems suffer from various technological and economic limitations that prevent their widespread adoption. The extensive wiring used to route measurements from system sensors to the centralized data server represent one of the greatest limitations.

The low cost wireless communications appears to be the best alternative, resulting in the design of a prototype wireless sensing unit. A more intelligent incorporation in the wireless sensing unit would be the use of microcontrollers for computational power.

Approach:

The architectural design of the wireless sensing unit, as shown in Figure, is divided into three major subsystems: sensor interface, computational core, and wireless communications.

How to Connect N70 and Motorola L series (L7 & L9) sets In Ubuntu October 25, 2008

Filed under: Linux — arunksingh @ 4:31 am

Follow these steps to connect to Airtel GPRS or other Company GPRS :

1. Connect the phone to the PC/laptop.
2. Run wvdialconf command from the terminal which creates a
configuration file for wvdial
3. Open /etc/wvdial.conf and add the following commands:

Init3 = AT+CGDCONT=1, “IP”, “airtelgprs.com

for other Networks : aka “companynamegprs.com”

4. Check for other settings it should be similar to values given below

ISDN = 0
New PPPD = yes
Phone = *99***1#
Modem = /dev/ttyACM0
Username = a
Password = a
Baud = 9600

Username /password may change for you. The modem device also may change.

5. Now type wvdial from the terminal and the GPRS should be connected

It works for me but with the Motorola L9 . It should work for you with
Nokia N70 too. Let me know if you face any problem.

Here I will unleash a few hidden settings that should improve your internet speed, and work with all current linux operating systems including Ubuntu:

1. Open a Terminal via Applications->Accessories->Terminal

Type:

    sudo vim /etc/sysctl.conf (press i for edit mode)

Then Paste the Following at the end of the file:

 ## increase TCP max buffer size setable using setsockopt()
net.core.rmem_max = 16777216
net.core.wmem_max = 16777216
 ## increase Linux autotuning TCP buffer limits
 ## min, default, and max number of bytes to use
 ## set max to at least 4MB, or higher if you use very high BDP paths
net.ipv4.tcp_rmem = 4096 87380 16777216
net.ipv4.tcp_wmem = 4096 65536 16777216
 ## don't cache ssthresh from previous connection
net.ipv4.tcp_no_metrics_save = 1
net.ipv4.tcp_moderate_rcvbuf = 1
 ## recommended to increase this for 1000 BT or higher
net.core.netdev_max_backlog = 2500
 ## for 10 GigE, use this, uncomment below
 ## net.core.netdev_max_backlog = 30000
 ## Turn off timestamps if you're on a gigabit or very busy network
 ## Having it off is one less thing the IP stack needs to work on
 ## net.ipv4.tcp_timestamps = 0
 ## disable tcp selective acknowledgements.
net.ipv4.tcp_sack = 0
 ##enable window scaling
net.ipv4.tcp_window_scaling = 1

Type :wq to exit and save.

Type in terminal

    sudo sysctl -p

to apply the settings.
You can disable all these settings by removing these lines you added via:

    sudo gedit /etc/sysctl.conf

Akela Hu

Akela Hu Ek Khwab Hu....

आंखो से देखोगे,तो खुश मुझे पाओगे
दिल से पूछोगे,तो दर्द का सैलाब हूं

World’s Smallest Webserver -MatchBox Size server August 30, 2008

Filed under: Linux — arunksingh @ 1:46 pm
Tags: , , , , ,

The Matchbox Webserver is based on a tiny single-board computer with a 66 MHz AMD 486DX CPU, 16 MB RAM, and 16 MB flash ROM — big enough to hold a useful amount of RedHat 5.2 Linux including the HTTP daemon that runs the project’s web server. At relatively low usage levels it consumes 800 milliwatts from a 5V power supply, rising to 2 watts at 100% CPU usage. It communicates with the outside world via two serial ports, a printer port, and a connector for a floppy drive. It measures 2.8″ x 1.8″ for an area of 5 square inches. Being 0.2″ thick this makes the volume one cubic inch (16 cc’s). It weighs 3/4 oz (20 grams).
